The Queen of Fenway Court: Isabella Stewart Gardner

Thursday, August 6th – Sunday, August 9th, 2020
The Queen of Fenway Court: Isabella Stewart Gardner
Written and Performed by Leigh Strimbeck
Directed by Josh Briggs | Original music by Jan Jurchak

“Strimbeck is on camera in this “Theatre on Film” production during the entire 56 minutes, and neither the camera nor the audience can get enough of her…Strimbeck channels Isabella and all her inconsistencies, quirkiness and charm. She wears both halo and crown and, in the blink of an eye, shifts from steely and unwavering to coquettish and fun-loving and back again to shrewd and fearless…all this makes for great storytelling and enchanting theater.”

APRIL 2019

This year has been a year of transition. I decided to go back to my first love, acting. I no longer teach at Russell Sage College. I am freelancing with an agent in the city, and I’ve done a number of auditions for film and television. As of March 2019, I booked an independent film and two plays (see upcoming events).

I worked with Berkshire Playwrights Lab in Great Barrington, MA this winter, directing a piece by Marty Bongfeldt called Always for their Radius Festival. The BPL Radius Festival is a wonderful event, new work, big talent, always a positive and supportive atmosphere. I also did a reading of a new play by Jim Frangione.

It’s terrific and terrifying to be popping in and out of audition rooms again.

Stay tuned!

The Explorer’s Club

September 13 through October 7, 2018

Fall, 2018: I am directing The Explorer’s Club, by Nell Benjamin

London, 1879. A stuffy old boy’s club contemplates admitting their first female member in this wildly funny send-up of science, sexism, and changing times. The Explorer’s Club is an absurdly clever, satirical farce from the pen of Nell Benjamin (Award-winning writer of Legally Blonde:  The Musical). As an added bonus, our entire professional ensemble will share the stage together for the first time in over 10 seasons under the direction of Associate Ensemble member Leigh Strimbeck.

A hilarious new play for those who love Monty Python and the Holy Grail, The Office, and BTE audiences who enjoyed The Legend of Georgia McBride.

Rated MA, for adult language and humor
